1 Samuel 2:18-26 KJV

In this passage Eli is mentoring Samuel. It says that Samuel even as a child was girded in a linen ephod and ministered before the Lord.

So Eli must have been a great mentor to Samuel. Samuel had amazing parents that would take him to the yearly sacrifice. His mother Hannah had made him a little coat to wear to this sacrifice each year. Even though she had 5 children total, 3 sons and 2 daughters, Samuel was the one chosen to wear this coat. So I asked the Lord why only Samuel? The Lord told me because he has called a five fold ministry under the government of the God head. 3 sons, for the father, the son and the Holy Ghost. Being made manifest into the bride that is the Church by the Word and Spirit represented by the two daughters. But only one gets the honor! It is no coincidence that only one son received the honor. That son who wore a linen ephod even as a child. Ezekiel 9 describes a man in white linen with a writers ink horn by his side. That man is Jesus. For it is Jesus who will write our names in the book of life by his blood! Its Jesus who makes our sin white as snow. Its Jesus who was swaddled in his nativity.  The ephod represents high priesthood, spiritual accountability, a place of spiritual power. In Genesis 14 KJV Melchizedek is the high priest that Abraham pays tithes to. Melchizedek has no mother or father on this earth! Melchizedek is the Holy Ghost that gives you power and authority over your flesh! Luke 24:49 KJV says tarry ye in Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high! That powerful promise in the Holy Ghost! So what about this little coat father? And why did his mother make it? I am reminded of Josephs coat of many colors his father made him. But Samuel’s coat is only described as little and made by his mother. The Lord told me, Jesus is our spiritual mother. Jesus birthed a nation on the cross, for from his side did flow blood and water. Just like a mother giving birth, travailing in pain. She too brings life and with it is the blood and the water. We are his bride from the side. Like Eve taken from the rib of Adam we too were birthed from the side of Jesus. Why a little coat? Matthew 11:28 KJV Jesus says his yoke is easy and his burden is light. For he will never put more on you than you can bear. That little coat was the mantle of sacrifice. We are called to pick up our cross and follow him daily. Follow him to the cross. To deny ourselves and embrace the yoke of Christ upon us. To lose your life is to save it. God wants us to come to him as a little child, without the cares of this world yoked to us. God is saying put on your little coat and come to me my child.

I want to encourage you today, to put on the little coat and enter in, to your fathers embrace.
